FOR US FOUNDATION TO HOST OPEN HOUSE ON OCT. 25

ROWLAND HEIGHTS — The Friends of Rowland Unified Schools (FOR US) Foundation awards classroom grants that enhance student curriculum in biology, chemistry, history, technology, physical education, and the arts.  On Monday, October 25, the Foundation will host an Open House at the Rowland District Board Room from 6 to7 p.m. The public is invited to enjoy light refreshments and learn more about the enriching experiences that FOR US Foundation grants provide for local students. The Foundation also welcomes participation and contributions from community volunteers and businesses.

FOR US is a non-profit organization that gives thousands of dollars worth of grants every year to classrooms in Rowland Unified schools.The Foundation recently established a graduating senior scholarship of $500 for students from Nogales, Rowland, and Santana High Schools. Funding for Foundation grants and scholarships comes from its annual Casino Night fundraising event, held on March 25, 2011.

At a time when schools are in crisis, FOR US grants allow teachers to give students fun, innovative educational opportunities that school budgets can not afford.
